MUSC 1561 - Digital Audio Workstations Applications (3 Credits)
Students will complete the required Pro Tools 110 coursework and
learn an overview of other leading digital audio workstations used in the audio industry. Students are intended to have working knowledge of how to effectively utilize digital audio workstations upon completion of the course.

MUSC 1600 - International Perspectives & Global Reach of Musics from Mexico (3 Credits)
This course encourages students to think critically, communicate effectively (writing, verbal, and digital), and ideate creatively with an international perspective. The international and global reach of musics from Mexico is extensive and diverse. The history and cultural/social contexts, geographic and historical considerations, instrumentation, song lyrics, choreography, and performance practice are linked to many academic research disciplines. This course will draw on international perspectives informed by discipline-based approaches from areas such as anthropology, communication, economics, history, ethnomusicology, Spanish, and political science to provide vibrant contexts grounded in international issues, theories, and discourse.

MUSC 2125 - Electronic Music Production Techniques (3 Credits)
Students will learn contemporary electronic music techniques using current software. The class will include MIDI sequencing, looping, sampling, FM synthesis, subtractive synthesis, and wavetable synthesis. Students will also learn how to appropriately use effects and digital editing.

MUSC 2444 - Film Scoring (3 Credits)
This course introduces students to concepts of film music composition, storytelling through music and application of film scoring techniques. It will introduce various stages of the process of creating original music for film. The course will also cover analysis of scores, topics on history of film, interviews with famous film composers, instrumentation, orchestration, and compositional techniques, as well as application of those to music for film. The course will include lectures, projects, and assignments. In addition, this course facilitates students’ learning through collaborative projects with students from the Film & Television Department.
