Overview

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Professional Studies (BAS-PS) is a transfer degree program designed for students who have completed an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from an accredited community or junior college. This program builds upon the technical foundation of the AAS by offering a flexible and customizable professional skills-centered curriculum that supports career advancement and academic growth.

The professional certificates that are offered within this program are selected to align with each student’s individual career goals, with a focus on upskilling, professional, and leadership development. All certificate options are available fully online and also available on campus. Completed certificate credentials may be formally recorded on the student’s transcript before graduation.

Acceptance

The Bachelor of Applied Science: Professional Studies degree is open to any student who:

  1. Earns an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at any fully accredited, not-for-profit higher education institution
  2. Completes all of the course requirements for the AAS degree with a grade of C or higher in each of those courses, as verified by an official transcript from the applicable school(s)
  3. In some cases, a student may be approved to begin taking classes toward their Bachelor of Applied Science degree while they finish the remaining credits for their AAS. Please speak to BAS-PS administration for details and approval before applying to CU Denver

Students can start the program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. 

Transfer Credit

Transfer students with a completed AAS degree will be awarded the credits included in that degree.*  

As part of this agreement, any GT-Pathways-designated academic credits (or out-of-state equivalent) with a C- or better will transfer to the University CORE. Most non-GT-Pathways academic credit will be awarded as elective credit, with exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.  

*Additional credit taken outside of the completed AAS degree will be awarded on a case-by-case basis.  

Only courses with grades of C - or higher are eligible for transfer under the Bachelor of Applied Science: Professional Studies Transfer Program.
